The Ohio Hispanic Veterans Memorial Committee invites the community to a special evening gathering on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Lorain High School Auditorium. This event offers a meaningful look at the people, stories, and efforts behind the memorial honoring Ohio’s Hispanic and Latino veterans. Doors open at 5:45 p.m., and the program begins promptly at 6:00 p.m.

Guests can expect a thoughtfully planned program beginning with a brief presentation highlighting the individuals and organizations whose contributions—whether through funding, design, labor, or community support—made the memorial possible. This opening segment provides attendees with a deeper understanding of how the memorial came to life and the collaborative spirit that shaped it.

Film Premier

The evening’s centerpiece is the premiere of a short film created by Benicio Calo, offering an inside look at the memorial’s development, its purpose, and the stories it represents. The video is designed to be both informative and emotional, giving viewers a richer appreciation of the memorial’s significance within the community.

Q&A

Following the film, attendees will be invited to participate in a Q&A session, where they can submit written questions related to Hispanic and Latino veterans, the memorial project, or the committee’s ongoing efforts. This interactive portion provides a valuable opportunity for guests to learn more, share reflections, and engage directly with committee members.

Brick Pavers

In addition, the event will offer a special chance to sponsor commemorative bricks at a reduced donation rate. These bricks, permanently placed at the memorial site, serve as a meaningful way to honor a veteran, family member, friend, or organization while supporting future enhancements and educational efforts.

Recognitions

Throughout the evening, the OHVM Committee will extend recognition and gratitude to its many sponsors, partners, and early supporters—including architects, contractors, community groups, municipal partners, and those involved in the project from its earliest stages. The committee will also acknowledge the strong turnout and support shown during the November 8 unveiling ceremony, especially from local veterans’ organizations and the AMVETS Post 32 Color Guard.

This December 4 event offers a warm, informative, and community-centered experience for all who attend. Whether you supported the memorial, are interested in veteran history, or simply want to learn more about the project, the evening promises meaningful insights and opportunities to connect.
